The purpose of this study was to examine the repetition of vocabularies en- sentences presented between texts in Kim Chun-su's poetry. Studies on repetition in modem poetics have been carried out by the theory of parody or pastiche. However, these preceding studies are not clear in its theoretical definition and therefore inappropriate to explain the repetition occurred between texts.
In the creation of poetry, using some vocabularies or sentences from other texts as a form of quotation can result in different meanings even by the change of postpositional particles, replacement en-the change of lines. Repetition is an important technique of rhetoric as well as a crucial method of poetic creation which consists of descriptive structure of poetry. ln this regard, the repetition occurred between texts in Kim Chun-su's poetry can have other points which aJB different from the one occurred in the same text, For example:
First, the repetition which includes the change of tenses and the replacement of lines is the one. The aim of poetry is not to simply deliver stories. In Kim Chun-su's poetry, the quotation of vocabularies or sentences from a text to another causes the conversion of tension or situation in the course of changing tenses or replacing lines.
Second, in the repetition of sentences, meanings change by the changes of postpositional particles or the addition of vocabularies. This is accompanied by the change of situation before and after. In other words, according to the changed postpositional particles, the prior situation can continue or change by amplification, contrast or comparison.
Third. Kim Chun-su sometimes dismantles phonemes in the same sentences or sometimes changes genres. This technique is extremely experimental and seems to be an attempt to get effects through the change of poetic forms.
In conclusion, this study was initiated to raise an objection against the fact that the repetition of vocabularies or sentences appeared in many poems was easily concluded as self-plagiarism by the theory of parody. The theoretical definition or criterion of parody theory-based analysis of repetition is different by researchers and overlooks a variety of functional changes generated from poetic repetition by only concentrating on the examination on the correspondence to the definition of the theory. Poetic texts are not to simply deliver stories but to narrate the meaning the speaker want', to speak the emotion the speaker wants to rouse and the image the speaker wants to emphasize in a variety of techniques. Therefore, in the studies on the repetition of vocabularies or sentences in the creation of poetry, it seems to be necessary not to slant toward theories but to focus on the change of meanings and functions in the course of their changed use.
