A study on distribution and current status of the natural monument bird species were conducted by field survey in wintering season of 2007 and reviewed data from 1999 to 2007. Forty four species among 46 species of natural monument were recorded since 1999. Crested Ibis (Niponia nippon) was not observed since the 1980 and Tristram's Woodpecker (Drycopos javensis) did since 1990. Great Bustard (Otis tarda) was recorded only one time at Cheorwon, the Kestrel (Falco tinunculus) was most frequently recorded species. Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) were the highest number of observations among natural monument, Painted Snipe (Rostratula benghalensis) and Great Bustard which recorded 2 individuals were the least number of observations. Yearly change of population of the Cinereous Vulture (Aegypius monachus) which depending on artificial feeding was much fluctuated. Cranes, Spoonbills and the Chinese Egret (Egretta eulophotes) had the tendency of increase the number of observation. We suggest that continuous survey and monitoring on status will be need as the basic information for protection and management of natural monument bird species.
