The subject of this study is to understand the state of Chineses before and after Longqing Peace Treaty(隆慶和議), mainly in the borderlands of Bansheng(板升) in the right part of Mongolia and of Ming and Mongolia.
The prior related studies exhibit following the problems: Firstly, they exhibit a lack in understanding the motives and backgrounds in which Chineses transgressed the border into the right part of Mongolia or became captives settling down in the land of Mongolia;
Secondly, there are few attempts to find out how the society of Bansheng, which had been continually growing since the middle of 16th century, and the activity of Chineses developed in line with a drastic change in the circumstances like Longqing Peace Treaty.
The discussions in this study, therefore, will progress in the following number, mainly dealing with the content of Fuyijilue(撫夷紀略), comparing with the existing presented data:
1. The actual conditions of the activities of Chineses who transgressed the border in the situation in which Ming and Mongolia were holding out against each other and of the ones after the border transgression;
2. The development of Bansheng and the role of Chineses;
3. The problem of the Mongolian Chineses in Longqing Peace Treaty;
4. The actual conditions in the activities of Chineses in tribute and commerce;
Especially the Chineses involved in our discussions are the ones who were working as aides to the chief of Mongolia until the death of Altan in 1581.
