In recent years, demands on urban climate information for spatial planning have increased in Korea. However, it was not easy to consider urban climate in spatial planning due to the lack of spatially distributed information on urban climate. This paper explores ways to establish spatially distributed information on climate and to apply this information to spatial planning in the case of Yongsan Ganison, which will be relocated in the near future. Various kinds of climate information were analyzed and evaluated: local cold and fresh air production and trausport, local surface influence, risks of local atmospheric and thermal loads, and mesoscale wind circumstances. Based on this climate analysis and evaluation information, spatial information on planning recommendations was further produced for the three targets 'ventilation, air quality and thermal situation'. Finally, this information was applied to suggest what planning strategies can be recommended in relation to climate situations of Yongsan Garrison. The climate information established could be used to offer general planning strategies and measures for the study area. More detailed climate analysis and measurements will enhance the usefulness of such information for more detailed planning strategies and measures on building constructions and designs.
