Go-ok Jeong jak(1533-1603) was one of the representative figures in discipline-oriented Taoism of Josun Dynasty. He was a member of Onyang Jeong's Family one of whose representative figure was Bukchang Jeongryum. Not only was he noted as a poet, but also renowned as an editor who provided a Taoistic view of life and body to Heojoon who was working on editing of Dongeubogam (representative handbook of oriental medicine in Josun Dynasty).
Of poems written by Go-ok, more than 240 poems have been transmitted to now. Most of those absorbed the Taoism. At that time, metaphysical philosophy on human nature of Confucianism was prevailed. Thus, as one of the representative scholar of Confucianism, the fact that Go-ok was interested in Taoism was very notable and peculiar. Most of Confucianists at that time were very critical to Taoism and Buddhism.
Being devoted to Taoism, however, Go-ok showed characteristic of thought which emphasized a cooperation(integration) of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. His Taoism which took over Bukchang's Taoism became a big treasure-house of cultivating-life thought, consisting of major task in Jeong's family.
