모소낭은 청소년기에서 청년기에 주로 남성에서 호발하는 천미부의 감염성과 재발성이 많은 질환으로 알려져 있다. 이 질환은 대부분 단순 농양이나 피지낭종으로 오인되어 여려 번의 수술을 받는 경우가 흔하다. 수많은 치료법이 보고되고 있으나 치료의 원칙은 모소낭의 광범위 절제가 원칙이다. 이에 저자들은 청ㆍ장년에서 천미부에 발생한 농양의 진단 및 치료에 있어서 단순농양으로 오진 하고 단순 배농 및 절제를 계획하였다가 모소낭으로 지연 진단되어 광범위 절제술로 치료를 시행한 2예를 경험하여 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
