The effects of four phosphorus levels [0, 60, 120, and 180 ㎎ㆍ㎏?¹ soil as Ca(H₂PO4)₂ㆍ2H₂O] and three Zn levels(0, 5, and 10 ㎎ㆍ㎏?¹ soil as ZnSO₄ㆍ7H₂O) on growth and chemical composition of ‘Badami’ pistachio seedlings were studied in a calcareous soil under greenhouse conditions. After 26 weeks, leaf, stem, and root dry weights, total leaf area, and stem height were determined. P application at low levels had no significant effect on leaf, stem and root dry weights, decreased leaf area, and increased stem height. P at higher levels significantly decreased leaf, stem, and root dry weights and stem height, but had no significant effect on leaf area, while these growth parameters increased with increasing Zn levels. Zn application increased leaf, stem, and root Zn concentrations and root Fe and Mn concentrations, while it decreased leaf, stem and root P and Cu concentrations, leaf and stem Fe concentrations and leaf Mn concentration. P application increased leaf, stem, and root P and Cu concentrations, leaf and stem Fe concentrations, and root Mn concentration, while it decreased root Fe concentration and leaf Mn concentration. Zn application increased proline concentration and reducing sugar content, but P application reduced proline concentration and increased reducing sugar content.
