This article proposed the new method for comparative study between Korean old novels and Chinese old novels. That is the method comparing similar types each other. This kind of comparative studies are not only helpful to make clear the novel history of east Aisa but understand the identity of Korean old novels. On this method, the researcher has to keep in mind the fact that the Korean old novels are not the remote reign of China but the core of East Asian novels-history.
The comparing similar types between Korean and Chinese old novels could be proceeded with an internal and an external sides of literature. The possible types of Korean and Chinese novels are the works of romance at 16ㆍ7th century, historical novels, heroic novels, long Korean novels and long novels written in Chinese. They are appeared at similar period of each nations in East Asian cultrue blocks. So, the researcher should investigate similarities and distinctions of each types.
