The application of cryogenic storage systems is growing fast in different kinds of fields including to keep umbilical cord blood. This study is a part of a whole project which is aimed to design optimal cryogenic tanks with LN2 in them to bank umbilical cord blood. Three-dimensional (3-D) models are employed in the whole project to do structure and thermal analysis of those tanks. Also, simple numerical analysis of the temperature and pressure in the tanks will be discussed in this paper, as well as effects of environmental temperature. Based on the results, experimental equipments are under construction. Further studies will continually be done to do structure and thermal analysis with experiments in order to design optimal cryogenic tanks for banking of umbilical cord blood.
