1. Introduction
This article aims at finding out some programs and devices for developing representative cultural properties of Namwon while examining them into some branches and confirming the present state. This article shows that literary properties have relative importance among many cultural ones of Namwon and they can be maximized only if they are united with art properties. It also shows that we need to make Namwon a classical city in accord with that image of old city at the same time.
2. The cultural properties and contents of Namwon
The cultural properties of Namwon can be classified into six branches-literary, historical, art, geographical, educational, industrial ones. Namwon has abundant properties in literary and art field among them. Three among eight literary properties are highly used and are succeeded traditionally. So are two among nine historical ones. On the other hand, two among three art properties are being used. Especially art is closely connected with literature. Therefore literary and art properties have priority in its development.
3. Some devices of using cultural properties of Namwon
Namwon should have increasing inflow of visitors and competitive power in a short period of time by renewing the system of properties and building infrastructure. Namwon needs to be developed into the direction how people can see, go through, and enjoy literature and art.
First, it needs to determine the courses of literary journey and have public relations.
Second, it should have many kinds of materials. Namwon should be the original place of Pansori literature and Korean music in connection with research of Chunhyangjeon, Heungbujeon, and Byeongangsoega.
Third, it should have connection with Namwon Education Center and institutes in order to have study program for teachers.
Fourth, it should develop various remembrances and food culture. For example, cups and a set of spoon and chopsticks which are made of wood can be peculiar goods for Namwon. It can develop cooked rice and bibimbap made of mountain herbs.
Fifth, it needs to make Pansori goods for visitors.
Sixth, it should build infrastructure of culture so that it can be attractive place for tourists.
Seventh, it should work on some plans for returners to the farms.
It needs to devise some long period plans. First, it is desirable to make the good use of the properties that are not used. Manboksajeopogi is the love story where a man talks with a maiden ghost and her seven friends. So we can make visitors understand the story by making and undergoing seven tombs. Second, we should construct the backgrounds of Heungbujeon, Byeongangsoe Baekjang park, Kim Samoe Dang, and the moods of Chirisan literature. Third, Namwon is the old city which is one thousand years old, but it has become a kind of modem city. So we have a necessity to change the image and design of the city into classical style under a long period of plans. Fourth, we should consolidate historical properties of Namwon so that we can make it the kind of city which has many things to learn, see, and enjoy.
