The most important environment factor would be the light environment, and the interest and demand condition for light is constantly increasing. In residential area, the lighting environment and visual environment is becoming very important these days. The effort to decrease the artificial lighting energy is still in process, and because of this reason, based on the potential use of lighting and cooling energy, we are proceeding with the development of lighting system and trying to apply it to the constructions. Out of these systems, the light shelve system is effective on its lighting power, has relatively simple structures and also effective economically and in its execution, so it is being actively applied to buildings with daytime use. However, although the lighting shelve should present less glare, it is strongly showing the discomfort glare on the upper side of window, so the residents are complaining about it. Because of the good characteristics of light shelves we are recommending its use, but the research on the solution of discomfort glare is not being actively proceeded. Therefore, this research is aiming to find out about the discomfort glare on the light shelves in the buildings of daytime use, and to find the solution as well.
