This study aims to help in development of Korean table-tennis by examining the selection factors, training status and contents of Chinese table-tennis players.
The analysis results of this study are as follows. With respect to player selection factors, firstly the age of Chinese table-tennis players begins 5~6. Secondly, they select those players who have active and stable personality first and excited-style personality next. Thirdly, they select those players who have psychologically independent, curious, intelligence-seeking personality and excellent imitation ability. Fourthly, they select those players who have excellent muscle, flexibility, agility, quickness, speed, coordination and balancing ability in terms of physical strengths. Fifthly, in terms of physiological aspect, they select those players who have excellent visual, auditory, and locomotive senses. Sixthly, in terms of genetic aspect, they consider the height of player's parents and estimate the player's height to be selected. On average, 170~180㎝ is appropriate for male players and 160~170㎝ for female players. Longer length of both arms and under knees to the toe as well as lighter weight is preferred in selection. With respect to player training status, firstly Chinese table-tennis emphasizes training of preparatory players. Secondly, the player selection organizations in table-tennis are continuously increasing. Thirdly, Chinese table-tennis has a well-linked structure of elementary-middle-advanced players. Fourthly, Chinese table-tennis is cumulating experiences in selecting successful players and studying theories more deeply. heir training contents includes; first, since the young players trained early usually lack in understanding of motions, they learn completely about motion and fix any problems in it; Second, the training strengthens their basic skills; Thirdly, they are trained by professional physical strength program; Fourth, the training strengthens player's self-confidence and metal power; Fifth, it focuses on psychological training.
