The purpose of this study is to define the effect of psychological technology on the confidence, which is a factor of performance, by selecting mentally retarded athletes as targets. The study targets are 131mentally retarded people, which are registered as athletes in 2008. They consist of 95men and 36women, whose disability classes are from Class 1 to Class 4. As means to measure study targets' psychological technologies, sports psychological technology questionnaire of Yu Jin and Heo Jeong-Hun(2002) was used and as means to measure confidence, sports confidence questionnaire of Korean version was used. In order to find out the correlation between psychological technology and confidence by each group, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. In order to find out the correlation between psychological technology and confidence by each group, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. The study results are as follows. First, it is found that there is a positive correlation between psychological technology and confidence of mentally retarded athlete. In the result of multiple regression analysis, it is found that for male athlete, goal establishment and willpower give effect to confidence and for female athlete, 7 variables give effect to confidence. Second, when considering disability type, it is found that the athlete with disability class 2 and 3 has a higher relation between psychological technology and confidence than the athlete with disability class 1. In the result of multiple regression analysis, it is found that except the case of athlete with disability class 4, confidence is influenced by psychological technology. Third, for sports event, it is found that the athletes using racket usually has a higher correlation between subfactor of psychological technology and subfactor of confidence. In addition, in the result of multiple regression analysis, it is found that the athlete using racket is most influenced.
