The endeavor to eliminate violence against women has been made variously by women's movement organizations, governments, researchers and so on. But government policies being related to domestic violence, sexual violence and prostitution lacked of the view about prevention of violence and promotion of women's rights. This paper firstly examines existing Seoul metropolitan government's policy be related to violence against women. Secondly, this paper explores what policy is needed for more effectively elimination of violence against women.
There are three problems about existing policy in Seoul; First, it is limited to protection and support of victims. Second, it is lack of specialization of policy. Third, a new domain of policy can not be made. To correct these problems, Seoul metropolitan government must introduce three ways of policy as follows; First, the policy to prevent occurrence and recurrence of violence is need to be strengthened. Second, specialization of policy by target group is need to be made. Third, new issues and new domain of policy is need to be introduce.
