Chuuya views himself in the world of poem as one in the memories of the past, as one who crosses over the spacio-temporal boundary, and as one who fights against theories and world. As such, he has treated himself interchangeably from the viewpoint of a third party. His view is also shown in his later work 'Illusion', where he brings up 'pierrot' to make it possible that the poet himself and another 'he' exist together and are freely reborn.
This paper discusses how the notion of 'self' of Chuuya has changed in the series of his works, including 'Illusion'. Here, we points out that 'pierrot' in 'Illusion' represents another 'self', and that this is the way that Chuuya has treated himself as a poet.
