The fake reflexive resultative construction has long been regarded as an exemplary case of the resultative constructions because they bear many similarities in argument structure and semantics. It even plays a crucial role for syntacticians to support their theories of the resultative construction. However, the fake reflexive resultative construction shows different behavior both in syntax and semantics. This paper shows how it is different and what its special syntactic and semantic properties are. This paper also argues that the fake reflexive resultative construction form a small but special construction for intensifying a verbal action.
