Popularity is important characteristics of a Sinsoseol. Nonetheless scholars paid attention to enlightenment only. This study looked into the cause that a Sinsoseol went downhill in the sides of popular culture. A Sinsoseol is as functioned to popular culture to GaeHwaGi.
Japan and a Maeil-Sinbo exercised an influence to production of a Sinsoseol. Japanese imperialism infused a Confucianism ideology into Koreans through Maeil-Sinbos. Therefore a dutiful son and a chaste woman were introduced to a newspaper very much. Lee Hae-Jo emulated a Confucianism ideology of a Japanese imperialism. As was different from a Confucianism ideology of a Japanese imperialism, the emulation was refused. Structure of a Sinsoseol cannot get a popular interest, and Lee Hae-Jo was recognizing. Therefore he groped for an alternative, but has failed.
On the other hand, novel in Translation newly created love and tear. novel in Translation regards love as holy things. And insisted that you must certainly realize mental love. The woman of an novel in Translation have a problem in character. If problem is in woman character, main contents of a novel are selections. The woman tears by selections, and compel tears to the reader at the same time. But Koreans thought sorrow overcome by laughter. Time was necessary so that tears were created.
Book businessmen discounted excessively in order to sell a novel in 1910. Book businessmen regarded a novel as commodities only. So creation will of a writer was lowered. Publishing company was not able to reinvest proceeds by excessive discount. Sinsoseol was accepted to the public through competitions with other popular culture. Readers of an novel in Translation is connected to an audience of a sin-pa-geuk. Play and movie were able to easily form a sense of unity of a group than Sinsoseol.
