This study is composed to clarify how Lushan[盧山] is formed in classical Korean literature and its literary aesthetic characteristics.
There are several cases to get to encounter Lushan: paintings and poetry describing Lushan, and Chinese and Korean geographical books and maps relating to Lushan.
In my opinion, through these images, Korean writers considered Lushan was the most beautiful landscape and longed for more with literal imagination.
Forms and images of Lushan embodied in classical Korean literature were recognized as solemn mountains to retire to hermitage with typicalness of beautiful landscape. Waterfall was the most impressive feature of Lushan. A lot of poems were written, in consequence, as well as old Korean verses adopting Lushan were created in Hangeul, Additionally, Lushan was the home for heroes and stories of their history. Lushan was the memorial for historical heroes, and it was transformed into a symbolic mountain granting modem significance. Also, valleys of Lushan were used as metaphors for limitless greed and lust.
The upshot of considering Lushan as the most beautiful landscape was naming Korean landscapes after Lushan. This is sort of China-adoring thoughts.
