The mathematical method of asymptotic analysis is applied to determine the stress state within the frictional contact interface. The detailed description of the formulation for a frictional contact is addressed. In addition to that application of Mellin transforms to obtain stress and displacement components within the dissimilar contact interface are detailed here. As the direction of the coefficient of friction is important in determining the stress singularities for a frictional contact, hence both possible directions of implied shear traction is described by letting the coefficient of friction take both positive and negative signs.
