The suitability of nuclear imaging technique using <SUP>99m</SUP>Tc-diethyletriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) as an agent to assess glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of healthy miniature pig after hydration was evaluated. The mean age was 12 months (male). Mean body weight was 35 ㎏ with range from 34-36 ㎏. Mean serum creatine was 0.73 ㎎/㎗ and mean DTPA GFR was 92.87 ㎖/min. Excretion curve of both kidneys showed same peak height and decline. All these findings are the typical, normal scintigraphic findings and renograms. We conclude that quantitative renal scintigraphy, using <SUP>99m</SUP>Tc-DTPA is an adequate technique to estimate the kidney function of healthy miniature pigs. The best estimate of the kidney function status of pigs, using the percentage dose of <SUP>99m</SUP>Tc-DTPA, was obtained on the 1-to 3-minute interval after injection of the marker, using data was back-ground subtracted, but not corrected, for tissue absorption of gamma rays or binding of <SUP>99m</SUP>Tc-DTPA to plasma proteins.
