The verb go is one of the polysemous verbs in English. The purpose of this paper is to show that many of the meanings of go are motivated by the metaphorical projection of the knowledge of the space domain to other domains. The basic literal meaning of go is a mover moving from the source along a path to a goal. This conceptual base serves as the source domain, and it is mapped onto time, state, and event domains. The following metaphors are involved, and they produce distinct but interrelated senses of the verb: 1. Time is a moving entity and flow of time is motion in space; 2. Continuation of states is motion in space; 3. Change of states is movement into a bounded region in space; 4. Progress of events is motion in space; 5. Selling or giving things is movement out of a bounded region; 6. Attributes are possessions; 7. Life is a journey; 8. Demolition is going away 9. Degree is distance; 10. Impediments to action are impediments to motion.
