So far various conditions have been proposed to restrict the inadequacy of underlying form in Korean. These can be classified into three types. One is about the segment itself which is the element of underlying form. The other is a condition on the arrangement of segments, another is related with the aspect of alternation.
These conditions have played a some role in selecting a adequate underlying form, but exposed to problems. That is, they cannot help admitting many abstract underlying forms, and have overlapping roles. To avoid these weakness, we propose new conditions on underlying form. New Ones compose of two sbu-conditions.
First, segment in underlying form must be a phoneme in Korean, unless the advent of some segment is not expected. Second, segment in underlying form has to appear in any surface form. These two conditions can replace the previous condition as well as solve the problem which the previous one has.
