Chikog-temple(智谷寺) had been established in shilla dynasty. Since, A scale of the temple had been expanded in Koryo dynasty when Seokcho(釋超) and Hyelwall(慧月) remained in this temple. They were consecutively chief a high buddhist priest in Chikog-temple, and then maintained the central in a temple of the Zen seck. This temple keep up the light of buddhism to late of the Chosun dynasty. But it ruined between toward the end of the 19th century and in the early part of the 20th century.
Now, Chikog-temple site exists damaged stone stupa(石造浮屠) and stone turtle-shaped(龜趺). These are most important heritage in history of the Chikog-temple. So, this paper examine various aspects of a subject.
As a result, Western stone turtle-shaped had been constructed on A.D. 994. This is confident of Seokcho priest. Eastern stone turtle-shaped had been constructed on A.D. 1019. The stone stupa had been constructed to octagonal pattern. This is estimated at Sarira-stupa of Seokcho priest.
If the stone stupa site will excavate, we shall make definitely evidence.
