The object of this study was to analyze the functions and duties of a swimming instructor of a sports center by means of documentary research, and to investigate the characteristics and elements that the swimming members expected from their instructor, and then to provide the on-site instructors and would-be instructors verified data which would be helpful in a direct and indirect way. The results of the hypothesis obtained and verified by these study methods and data analyses were as follows: First, for the members' expectancy level of their instructor by the distinction of their sex, the result appeared to be the highest in the aspect of humanity, and there was 5% notable difference in the aspect of appearance. It meant that there was quite some difference in the members' expectancy level of the instructor's appearance by their sex. Second, for the members' expectancy level of theirinstructor by the distinction of their marriage or celibacy, the result appeared to be the highest in the aspect of humanity, showing 5% notable difference. This meant that there was quite some difference in the members' expectancy level of the instructor's aspect of humanity by their marriage status. Third, as for the members' expectancy level of the instructor by their age, the result appeared to be the highest in the aspect of humanity. There was 5% notable difference in the aspect of facilities, and 1% notable difference in the aspect of qualifications. It appeared to be less for the age group of 20-29 compared to the age group of 30-39 and 40-49. This meant that there was quite some difference in the members' expectancy level of the instructor's aspect of facility management and qualifications by their age. Fourth, as for the members' expectancy level of the instructor by their educational level, the interest level appeared to be the highest for the middle school graduates and below, and the humanity aspect appeared to be the highest for the high school graduates, college graduates, and post-graduates and above. And for the university graduates, the aspect of facility management appeared to be the highest. There was 1% notable difference in the aspect of humanity and facility management, and 0.1% notable difference in the aspect of qualifications. In the aspect of humanity, the middle school graduates and below appeared to be lower than the high school graduates, college graduates, university graduates, and post-graduates; and in the aspect of facility management, the middle school graduates and below, high school graduates, and college graduates appeared to be lower than the university graduates and post-graduates. This meant that there was quite some difference in the members' expectancy level of the instructor's aspects of humanity, facility management, and qualifications by their educational level. Fifth, as for the members' expectancy level of the instructor by their average income, the result appeared to be the highest in the aspect of humanity. There was 1% notable difference in the aspect of qualifications, and 5% notable difference in the aspect of appearance. For the aspect of qualifications, the income group of under three million won appeared to be higher than the group of under two million won. And for the aspect of appearance, the group of under two million won appeared to be higher than the group of over five million won. This meant that there was quite some difference in the members' expectancy level of the instructor's aspects of qualifications and appearance by their average income. Sixth, the members' expectancy level of the instructor appeared to be the highest in the aspect of humanity by their sports career. Subsequent inspection showed 1% notable difference in the aspect of interest. The interest level was higher for the members with under six months career compared to those with over 36 months career, and it was higher for the members with under 12 month career compared to those with over 36 months career. This meant that there was quite some difference in the members' expectancy level of the instructor's interest level by their sport career.
