The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of manual manipulation therapy and Sport massage, which are not surgical procedures, performed on scoliosis patients in Y girls' high school for 8 weeks. A total of 18 students, including 18 scoliosis patients aged between 16 and 19, made up the study population. manual manipulation therapy and Sport massage was performed on 8 scoliosis patients and Control group on the remaining 10 patients. The patients were treated with manual manipulation therapy and Sport massage for 8 weeks and the effects on ROM of Spinal and body balance of dynamic have been evaluated. The results of the analysis have shown the following:
1. Physical ROM of spinal: There was a significant difference for flexion between a Manual Therapy treatment periods(p<.05). There was a significant difference for extension between a Manual Therapy treatment periods(p<.05). There was a significant difference for Left-flexion between a Manual Therapy treatment periods(p<.05). There was a significant difference for Right-flexion between a Manual Therapy treatment periods(p<.05).
2. As for dynamic movement, a meaningful difference in Sine wave L-R shift, Sine wave A-P shift and oval has been observed only in the period (P<.05). After 8 weeks of the treatments, compared with before the treatments, there has been a meaningful increase in stability in the manual manipulation therapy and Sport massage group (P<.05) and a numerical decrease has been observed in the control group.
To conclude, manual manipulation therapy and Sport massage therapy has helped the scoliosis patients to improve 1ROM of Spinal and Dynamic body balance. Therefore, early detection of scoliosis during adolescence and steady Qigong gymnastic exercise or stretching, which improves muscles around the spine, may keep Cobb's angle of students normal.
