The purpose of this study is to analyse the asymmetry between the left and right of lower limbs in walking and skating. In order to understand the locomotion mechanism, Kinematic parameter that is stroke time, stroke length, speed, double support and angular displacement is to comparative analysis. To accomplish the purpose of study subjects were 4 elite athlete speed skaters in S Women's University in Seoul. The statistical procedure of this study is the paired t-test and performed by SAS package(ver 8.2). The findings of this study were as follows:
First, the significant difference of speed skater's locomotion was greater the normal gait than the skate gliding, unexpectedly. Seconds, For asymmetry of difference between the left and right side of lower limb's joints, Hip joint appeared larger than ankle and knee joint during locomotion. Third, bilateral unbalance of 3D plane significantly appeared with the frontal plane in skating, the frontal and horizontal plane in gait, and bilateral unbalance of joints was hip joint in skating, and ankle joint in gait, respectively.
The results suggest that bilateral balance is to important the angular displacement of lower limbs as well as the weight transfer of upper body in order to keep stability of speed skating.
