The purpose of this research is to compare the genotype distribution of especially ACE genotype among the subjects being elite speed skating athletes who undertake high level of training and are assumed to have demonstrated high level of athletic performance. It is also aimed to clarify the effect of the genotype on the aerobic and anaerobic sports performances. Firstly ACE genotype of elite speed skating athletes were analyzed. Higher distribution of DD genotype within ACE genotype was depicted among speed skating athletes. Secondly after comparing the aerobic performance factors according to polymorphism of ACE genotype among the elite speed skating athletes, speed skating athletes group, in terms of the variants of V˚O₂max HRmax, AT, Ⅱ genotype shows higher V˚o₂max, HRmax, AT than DD genotype. And statistically there was noticeable difference in Ⅱ type (p<.01). Thirdly, after comparing anaerobic performance factors according to polymorphism of ACE genotype among the elite speed skating athletes speed skating athletes group, in terms of the variants of Peak power(㎏) DD genotype shows higher level than Ⅱ genotype. And statistically there was noticeable difference in DD type (p<.01).
Therefore Among polymorphism of ACE genotype Ⅱ genotype is considered to be more suitable for the aerobic performances. Especially this method of research is proven to be suitable to predict the aerobic performance of Korean speed skating athletes.
