Crisis of racial literature theory becomes intensified on account that it is connected with crisis of Korean total literature. Although the situation of partition of Korean peninsula is not resolved, we cannot help asking ourselves what the racial literature's identity is, in present condition that modern theory was somewhat actualized in 90's. If racial literature theory has existed for constructing racial nation, and it pulled our weight totally as historical theory, now it looks like Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark. It doesn't have worth to exist any more. But if we look in the face of our reality in 90's, the racial literature theory seems to come to an total end earlier. Paek Nak-Cheong expresses it perfectly on the above, he says ‘As globalization with global capital expands, it brings key assignment of racial literature into relief.’ His theory includes racial concept that is reconstructed out of ‘imperialism, national liberation to frame of global system’ above the concept of race as member of bourgeois nation or main body for national liberation. If the concept of race should get identity as a unit which contents with world, can it be meant as the concept of real race? His recent theory of racial literature based on the global system has that kind of problem. I'm curious if the concept of race can produce valuable meaning in the speedy process of information oriented society with globalism. And how can realism, the practical method of racial literature theory, accept the complicating theory of modernism and post-modernism?
Argument of realism and modernism has proceeded actively in racial literature camp. But it's not satisfactory. That's why the disputants recognize the concept of realism and modernism with the theory of value. Though the argument of mutual understanding realism and modernism has advanced, it's not solved to find the proper method to adapt and overcome modernity. The best argument on racial literature theory should get out of theory of value on dichotomy, choosing realism or modernism, and it should also include the logic to adapt and overcome the modernity. This attitude has intention to introspect our present based on our lives in modern age of scientific technique, excluding logical process with ultra modern theory. It can be said to get free from ideological false. It's true that Korean racial literature theory has maintained too solid way of thinking and system against social historical condition. It should absorb the change of social historical condition with flexible way of thinking and system.
