The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of leadership behavior patterns of contest-events leaders upon players' group cohesion. Questionnaire sent to 167 contest-events players in C, D, and S physical high schools. The leadership Questionnaire in this research used the research tool developed by Chelladurai and Saleh(1978) and the cohesion questionnaire used the one developed by Widmeyer, Brawley and Carron(1985). And the executed data processing method was Frequency Analysis, Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis, and the results are as follows.
First, only autocratic behavior variable of leader's leadership behavior patterns exerted a statistically significant influence on the collective social cohesion variable in the level of p＜.001. Second, leader's leadership behavior patterns did not have a statistically significant influence on the personal social cohesion. Third, the training & instructions variable (p＜.01) and democratic behavior variable (p＜.05) of leader's leadership behavior patterns had a statistically significant influence on the one of collective problem cohesion. However, the variables of autocratic behavior, positive compensation behavior, and social support behavior did not have a significant influence. Fourth, leader' s leadership behavior patterns did not have a statistically significant influence upon the variable of personal problem cohesion.
