The purpose of this study was to analyze the change of heart rate and blood lactate during the basketball game for the effective training program of basketball players to improve performance. Subjects were consisted of 10 high school basketball players. Maximal heart rates and peak values of blood lactate concentration were estimated by graded maximal testing, and the change of heart rate and blood lactate concentration and the ratio of maximal and anaerobic lactate threshold were measured during the basketball game. In graded maximal testing, the mean and the standard deviation of the maximal heart rate was 182.9±8.47 beats/min. Blood lactate concentration corresponding to lactate threshold was 2.37±0.66 mM, and peak value was 8.85±1.34 mM. In the change of heart rate during the game, the ranges of change by ratio based on the lactate threshold showed from 93.04±5.93 % to 101.00±6.78 %, and those by maximal heart rate showed from 71.92±9.21 % to 84.16±5.20 %. The concentration of blood lactate during the basketball game was higher level than before the basketball game, however, the concentration of blood lactate after 10 minutes in the second half time was lower level than before the basketball game, because of performing lower intensity of exercise due to drop the physical fitness in the second half time than in the first half time. In these results, it was demanded the multiple consideration of heart rate and blood lactate concentration check for the analysis of precise exercise intensity in basketball game, and lactate threshold could be suggested the optimal training intensity for the enhancement of cardiorespiratory function in basketball players.
