This study was to empirically investigate the effects of introduction of the specialty store system for alcoholic liquors. To achieve this research objective, this study 1) explored the theoretical background of juvenile drinking behaviors, 2) considered the expected problems and effectiveness of the introduction of the specialty store system for alcoholic liquors, 3) based on the above exploration and considerations, developed the questionnaire and examined the survey results of interviews with the 1,060 respondents, and 4) suggested the effectiveness and problems of the introduction of the specialty store system for alcoholic liquors.
The current study showed that most respondents objected to the introduction of the specialty store system for alcoholic liquors and the juvenile drinking problems can hardly be solved with the introduction of the specialty store system for alcoholic liquors. In addition, results of the current research suggest that problems, such as intemperate drinking culture, juvenile drinking, and illegal circulation of alcoholic liquors can possibly be solved not only with the re-establishment of order in the retail circulation but also with the better understanding of consumers and distributors toward temperate drinking, campaign for sound drinking behavior from the public and private sectors and re-establishment of the whole production-wholesale-retail system of alcoholic liquors.
