Languages have phonological rules. If a language has more rules, then the gap between the written forms and oral ones would be deeper. This gap could be linked by phonological rules. Korean has many phonological rules. Many scholars had recognized these phenomena and formulated rules. Korean spelling system was mapped out on the basis of these findings in 1933. The maim principle of the system is morpho-phonemic transcriptions, that is oral forms are reduced to unchangeable standard forms and phonological rules applicable to the morpho-phonological situations.
But the system has one exception. Sino-Korean morphemes starting with the sounds [l_] and [ni_] and [nj_] are to be written in two forms according to their positions in words. This paper claims that they should be written in one form in spite of their positions. This alternative is consistent with the general principles.
Another point of this paper is about the pronunciation of some words. Koreans transcribe the sound form [kuŋ-min, kuŋ-man] as {kuk-min, kuk-man}, after construing the nazalization rule in the sound forms and write the abstract forms in which nazalization rule were not applied. But the rule has no morpho-syntactic functions, It is just Korean habit of pronouncing easily. In this case, it is reasonable to select more distinct sound form as standard sound form in settling standard pronunciation.
The third point of this paper is about effects of teaching these rules to 11th graders. Teaching these rules deeply to the extents that students get constructivists' goals cannot be attainable because of the complexity of the rules.
