This study is designed to investigate environment of university surroundings and to measure campus neighborhood boundary focusing on the facilities and their functions. The main findings are follows.
First, relaxing and entertainment facilities such as beer hall, coffee shop, restaurant occupy a larger proportion than research and education related facilities near university campus. Second, densities of billiard pools and restaurant are higher near campus than other place while facilities essential to everyday life such as drug stores, beauty shops, medical clinics are located in and/or near residential areas. Third, campus neighborhood boundary is evaluated about 200-300m from main entrance of university campus in the case of the study area. Fourth, the location of commercial facilities should be regulated by planning tools such as action plan in order to harmonize land use and facility with education around university.
