Seoul, Insadong-Districts have partly changed with complication between the economic pressure to call for structural change and the local character to stand firmly by Korean traditional culture. This study analyzed the permeating of business into the area with urban ecological view.
In this view, the results are as followings ; first, the forms to turn a commercial area from residential area are in accord with ecological process in this area ; second, the retail stores have been formed into linear patterns on the main road side, on the other hand the restaurants are penetrated as a zonal patterns in the inner parts of the districts ; third, commercial activities have invaded not only residential function but other commercial activities in their dominant areas, so each of them strengthens its own dominating.
It is another finding that ecological processes(dominance and gradient, segregation, invasion and succession)simultaneously come out and these are only devided by an angle of views in this area. Definitely, this study is first one that applies urban ecological theory in a practical evaluation in this country.
