In this issue I studied the Land Readjustment under the Japanese-rule in Korea. The Characteristic and the process of the enforcement of the Land Readjustment are described in this paper.
The Government-general of Korea under the Japanese-rule had intention to enforce the Land Readjustment since the proclamation of the Town Planning Act. At that time the Government-general of Korea could not afford the expenses needed in carrying on the Urban Planning. So it adopted the Land Readjustment as an easy means to producing fund for the Urban Planning, for it was expected that the cost used in the Land Readjustment would be returned in short period.
But in 1941 Japan went to war against the United States of America and the Great Britian. And waging warfare against two Big Powers was a great burden to Japan from the economical and financial point of view. As the result Government-general of Korea came to meet the difficulties in managing the Land Readjustment carried out in large quantities in Korea. At least, Japan was defeated in World War Ⅱ and consequently the enforcement of the Land Readjustment was left unfinished.
Therefore Seoul and the other cities which took over the Land Readjustment since 1945 have undergone much suffering in conducting this activity for 40 years.
I studied the process of the enforcement of the Land Readjustment and described the results in this paper.
