Clustering of small regions for larger regions are frequently used in national development planning.
The clustering procedure so far in Korea is very descriptive although many alternatives have proposed. This paper proposes the statistical clustering method to be used for spatial clustering as a functional regionalization. A brief explanation of the clustering method, followed by a development of the evaluation procedure, is provided. The result of the functional regionalization of Korea based on the trip distribution is presented.
The result of the search is at this time not conclusive. However, it is very promising and shows a potential development in functional regionalization for a spatial rearrangement.
