This study aims to suggest the planning guidelines for the sustainable development in human settlements by case study. Seven cases were selected ; Mawson Lakes Development, New Haven Village, The Halifax Ecocity Project, Crystal Waters Permaculture village, Live Nagaike, Nagamine, and Chiku-umira 1Panji. We investigated the seven sites based on following four sectors ; 1) land use, 2) transportation and circulation, 3) energy use, 4) management of natural resources. Planning guidelines are as follows.
1st, to connect the existence city and the developed settlement by railroad system. And to make the circular transport system by minibus and bicycle.
2nd, to preserve original landform and to extend green by planning the central open space.
3rd, to planning the under-ground parking lot at the site entrance in order to reduce the vehicles inside.
4th, to preserve natural resources and consider micro climate in site. And to apply the new techniques of energy saving like geo-thermal system.
5th, to collect rainwater for garden irrigation and reuse. And to purge pond or streamlet by planting a purgative plants.
6th, to preserve the green and connect the spot biotopes. And to promote the air cleaning, micro climate controling, and biodiversity by muti-planting.
7th, to build up the circulation system for water resources, wastes, and reuse of construction materials.
