In this paper, a possibility as the light source of building-around factors was studied mainly to develop the poor environment of metropolitan area. Especially, the view factor of nearby buildings was analyzed according to variable factors about reflection and diffuse performance which were related with northern side of the opposite building facing to southern side of the nearby building. Then, those effects were examined by using the illuminance of northern side that was calculated by Lightscape 3.2. As a result, the view factor was affected directly by the reflectance of ground and of nearby building and location of building in winter. In summer, sunlight effect was similar to distribution of that in winter, but in case of diffuse light, nearby building was an obstruction. In summer, the effect according to ground reflectance kept on working.
In conclusion, it was possible that nearby building and building-around environment became the light source of building and that quantitative standards which were able to use in the first stage of the high-rised building design could be developed. It was planned for analyzing sensitivity about more variables, and the role as the light source which had an effect to northern side would be analyzed according to each factor.
