It has been long time ago since the university gymnasium had been placed as the space for its regional community rather than a space for the students. Accordingly, the university authority is trying a lot of effort in order to enhance its clarity through an overall renovation on the gymnasium, controlling the reverberating condition in the gymnasium, the most existing problem. On such viewpoint, this research would like to furnish a fundamental data which enables to improve the acoustic capability when it is on renovation, by grasping of physical acoustic characteristics on the gymnasium which is currently on the stage of renovation through a subjective appraisal.
In observation on the result of this study, the reverberation time at 500㎐ appears as 3.5sec~4sec, and D??, the definition index showed as 11.5%~31.8%, and the other acoustic evaluating indexes also appeared as very low. And that, in view of the result of subjective evaluation, “Reverberation of sound” was judges as the most serious problem, and since the other items were evaluated as ordinary, it can be recognized that the improvement of acoustic capability is necessary by all means.
