Due to the change of the perception of the recent leisure activities, there is a need for a large space that accommodates various sports and high-quality performance and events. However, in an effort to secure such a large space, octagonal & circular plane and high ceiling height are needed, which is easily exposed to acoustic defects. On top of that, due to the indiscriminate use of finishing materials without consideration of acoustic performance from the design stage aggravates such defects. Accordingly, this study, targeting a large gymnasiums, was going to grasp acoustic defects by doing an actual survey and analysis of physical acoustic characteristics, on the basis of which, to make comparative analysis of physical acoustic performance consequent on changes in finishing materials & seating condition using acoustic simulation. It is thought that such a result will be used as very useful data at a time of erecting a large gymnasium similar to the research result in the future.
