Based on the period, class, and locality, the remains of the Choseon-Dynasty building site excavated in Jeokseodong, Yeongju were compared with residential housing, jaesa, and seowon buildings in terms of location, arrangement and layout, external space design, and room space in order to trace the original form. As a result, the building site is presumed to be the upper-class residence built between 15th and 16th centuries. When it is restored based on this estimation, the following characteristics are found. First, in terms of location, it is situated as an independent residence at the tail end of hills in the valley surrounded by the hills on the three sides except for the south facing Secheon. This configuration of location gives clues on the period and motive of village formation, the first people who formed the village and the arrangement of the village. Second, the unique design principles and intentions to actively recreate architectural forms and space design from land conditions are similar with Hyangdan and Imcheonggak. This can be attributed not to local features but to the flow of time and the traits of architectural principle. Third, the unique arrangement and the scale with about 40kan is the result from reflecting individual traits of architectural principle by architecturally reinterpreting feng-sui that was popular at that time and displaying the authority of local aristocrats. Fourth, the house composition and layout is made up with the closed space of the presumed restoration of the ?-shaped momche, T-shaped sarangche, and 一-shaped hangrangche which connects these. Especially the layout of Anche is presumed to be in a form of residence transformed by human and cultural exchanges between Seoul and neighboring areas from its unique residential culture based on natural environment. Fifth, the primary line of flow in the Anche is in the direction of right angle to the left and that of the sarangche proceeds in the left direction and they seem to be determined according to land conditions and house arrangement. Sixth, yeoungjocheok(unit of length) is in the range of 31.0~31.815cm, not much different from that in Choseon Dynasty. Basic structural module is 8cheok×8cheok(1:1) of geometric square and there are slight modifications such as 10cheok×8cheok(1.25:1), 11cheok×10cheok(1.1:1). This kind of normative house setting has something in common with upper-class residences and the periodical relevance can be found.
