The purpose of this thesis is to observe an aspect of phonetic phenomenon in Sino-Korean. In addition, second purpose of this thesis is to find out phonetic environment of its phenomenon using that result. While examining thoroughly phonetic phenomenon in Sino-Korean words, I have expected searching typical and useful words for teaching pronunciation to Chinese and Japanese students.
I have analyzed this study based on the following two assumptions:
〈1〉 There are several different phonetic phenomenon between Korean native words and Sino-Korean words.
〈2〉 An accurate research on a phonetic phenomenon in Sino-Korean is urgently needed in teaching Korean pronunciation to Chinese and Japanese students.
For this survey I have selected a good number of basic Sino-Korean words of Learning Korean, and I have taken statistics on phonetic phenomenon in those words.
The results can be summarized are as follows :
〈1〉 I have presented a list and analyzed data regarding phonetic phenomenon in Sino-Korean. According to this survey I have found out some differences between Korean native words and Sino-Korean words.
〈2〉 This result adapts for teaching pronunciation. By using this result, I can establish a learning rank. And I can suggest typical and useful phonetic phenomenon for pronunciation exercise.
