Thermal comfort is defined as that condition of mind which expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment. For achieving thermal comfort not only thermal neutrality but also no local thermal discomfort will be required. The feeling of thermal neutrality is influenced by the four physical parameters of air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air movement, humidity, and two human factors of activity and clothing. The condition of thermal neutrality is restricted to a narrow range for mean skin temperature and evaporative heat loss at a given activity. Over the years a lot of comfort indices have been proposed. Some of them were concerned with the moderate thermal environment near comfort conditions and others were for heat and cold stress. In recent, Fanger's PMV and Gagge et a1. SET for estimation of thermal comfort - in which all six thermal parameters of air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air velocity, humidity, clothing, and metabolic rate are included - are widely introduced to HVAC engineers and interior desioners. The main purpose of tins study is to investigate the correlation between SET" and korean thermal sensation through subjective judgement and to find out the korean thermal comfort zone indicated by SET as compared with ASHRAE Standard 55-74 comfort zone.
