This essay concerns the analysis of a documents contained in the diary report of Yeangaeso. In the document is recorded the construction plan, the building materials and supplies, thier purchase costs, the number of the employees the calculation method for the payment of wages for the construction Yeangaeso in Seungju in the later 19th century. The following conclusions arise form the construction diary report.
First of all, the theory of divination based on topography had an extensive influence to select the site for the Yeangaeso. Second, the construction process in reported as 135days long form the 11th of February in the 13th year king Chol Jong(1862) to the 8th September in the same year. A total of 91 of the 135 days are noted as working days. Third, for he supply the building materials were reused at first the timber and tile roofing from a dilapidated hospital building and existing Yeangaeso. The goods in short supply were bought. At that time there were many difficulties for the material supply despite the offices had cooperated for the material provision actively. Fourth, the person engaged in construction are divided into construction carftsmans and office workers and building workers. There were carpenter, craftsmen handling metallic material, painter. It estimated that carpenters consisted of 4 person are civilian craftsman pursuing farming as a side business and office workers consisted of young ones of the nobility and officials took part in supply and demand of manpower and provision of materials, payment of wages. The building worker consisted of near civilians took part in various kinds of work. Fifth, the carftsmans and building workers payment of wages based upon the working days. It showed that the difference in grade for wages were applied in the latter period of Chosun.
