A communist is not a circumferential character in the literature of Kim Won-Il. After 「The Soul of Darkness」 Kim Won-Il has symbolized communist continuosly and gradually in his literature. A communist in the novel after war was usually described as a hostile character. A communist as a hostile character was described as a negative human who lacks humanism. The observation by the writer is that the communist is not a negative character. The writer is going to plan to judge a novel which embodies 'humanization' observing communist seriously and plan to study 『A Glow in the Sky』 in this point.
The writer proceeds with two points in this study. One of two points is 'the discovery of paternity and humanization of the communist' and another is 'the memory about victims and humanization of the communist'. In 'the discovery of paternity', the writer paid attention so that the discovery of paternity became the method which could relieve the communist father described as a devilish character to a human. Under the realistic control of anticommunism, the writer could not help describing a communist father as a devilish character who embodied ultra violence. However, Kim Won-Il did not write 『A Glow in the Sky』 for describing the communist father as a devilish character. The method which Kim Won-Il relieves the communist father to a human who can be forgiven is the discovery of paternity.
Moreover, the writer paid attention to the conscious variety of a memory in 'the memory about victims and humanization of the communist'. Under the realistic control of anticommunism, a father is remembered as a symbol of an assailant. However, a hero who came to his home because of a death of his uncle remembers a father as a victim and a hero transforms his father from an assailant to a victim. Particularly, 'I' remember a father as a model of victim contrasting between the easy survival of an old man, Bae Do-Su and a death of his father.
