The Kyoto Protocol was adopted at the Framework Convention on Climate Change conclusion country meeting held in Kyoto in December, 1997. The greatest feature of this protocol is that the numerical target which is legally binding for each country was set up about the amount of greenhouse gas discharge of advanced nations. A greenhouse gas reduction target of Japan is 6％ reduction, and even if it compares with the desired value ofEU or the United States, it serves as a velue severe numerical value. Although the target year is 2012 from 2008 and the half of the period till then has passed now, it has not yet gone into effect It is that the United States which is the greatest discharge country seceded as this cause, and that Russia has not yet ratified.
Now, to this reduction target, the Japanese government set up the energy-saving target of 56 million Kl of crude-oil conversions in respect of energy demand. Moreover, held up the target of a large expansion of the positive conversion to nuclear power generation, and the dependence to natural power sources further in the energy supply field.
This paper reports the energy supply-and demand problem and alternative energy spread situation (they are the exploitation of solar energy and the exploitation of wind power energy especially) in Japan after the Kyoto Protocol.
