This thesis explains the poems of Yun Dong-Ju from the point of the ethical individualism in modern Korea, Ethical individualism, which advocates that morality is completed by ethical reform in the community, brought together the tasks of modernization and national liberation in Korean thought during the 1930's, Yun Dong-Ju is the most representative poet of ethical individualism, This thesis brings together his poems and the intellectual thought of those days.
The first, Yun Dong-Ju radicalized the theodicy for national liberation, This was connected with the Korean religional reformist movements.
The second, the conflicts in his poems were the results of his desperate effort for synthesization of moral deontology and reli-gio-political teleology, The complexity of his ethical thought effects the form in his poems, Ironical expression and passive form are these.
The Third, he knew that 'overcoming the modern,' the Japanese intellectual thought in those days, wad fictitious and only existed as slogan of Japanese fascism. Thus he developed individual-centered organism, which taught that the whole should be inherent in the individual as the form of potentiality, and his pattern of thought was debt in Choson-Hak(Korean Studies) and Choson Christianity(Korean Christianity).
Yun Dong-Ju connected national particularity to Christian universality. His poetry, which ennobled Korean ethical individual￢ism tradition of thought and literature to its maximum, expressed the formation of dialectical recognition('possible consciousness') beyond the socio-political conditions of those days.
