This essay attempts to illuminate that the transcendence in Jung Hyeon-jong's early poems be composed of vertical time and horizontal space.
The transcendence in Jung Hyeon-jong's poems is originated with the fact that he regarded the reality of the 1960s as crisis. Jung's poems are based upon restoring existential originality. His transcendence-orientedness is closely connected with the idea of 'a structure of horizon', which opens to not only invisible but also visible parts.
This essay tries to analyze a vertical time of the 'flesh' in his works. The 'flesh' which is characterized by its ambivalence is related with 'a structure of horizon'. This essay also examines the subject of 'ecstasy', the transcendental moment. Moreover, I analyze the image of 'room' that is moving and spreading out, and the image of 'ear' symbolizing connections between subject and others.
In short, all these aspects show that Jung Hyeon-jong attempts to emancipate every being as well as poets from this oppressed reality and language.
