The purpose of this study is to analyze apartment remodeling designs and process influenced residents' opinions on a private initiated apartment remodeling case, and to evaluate remodeling executed and to find out next remodeling program by analyzing inequality between residents' needs and satisfaction on their residential environment, This is a previously elementary research for Improvement of diagnostication and evaluation methodology to measure residential adaptation and satisfaction
For this study, first, remodeling design plans and details of case apartment are examined by document survey, and the present conditions of apartment are examined by field survey Second, interview survey are executed with architect, engineers and representative of resident Union participated on remodeling design Third, questionnaire survey are executed to find out residents' needs, satisfaction and attitude to apartment remodeling experienced
Mapo-Yonggang Apartment, a remodeling case for this. study, is located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Korea, and the first example of private-initiated apartment remodeling in Korea being controlled Korea National Housing Corporation as a model Field survey and interview survey were executed from June to August, 2004
