The purpose of this study was to find out the levels of Christian Education and psycho-social functions I.e. Deaf Identity, mental health, family life and school adjustment among Korean Deaf adolescents and the relationship between the two variables To achieve this purpose 173 middle and ingh school deaf students from 6 Church Deaf Ministry were surveyed with self administered questionnaires. The study results revealed that the levels of hearing identity and marginal Identity which are considered negative forms of deaf Identity to be the highest among the adolescents who participated in the study This was an unexpected finding since research conducted in the U.S. found the level of dual culture identity, the ideal deaf identity, to be the highest among American deaf individuals The reasons for this phenomenon may be found in the Korean circumstances where sociocultural perspective of the Deaf people has not been established and the Korean educational environment for the Deaf which does not recognize the Deaf culture and sign language as a language The level of psycho-social functions of Deaf adolescents partinpating in the study was found to be extremely low especially when compared to the results found in studies of adolescents in general This may have resulted from the sociocultural 야scrimination and pathological perspective prevalent in our society with respect to Deaf people The relationship between the Christian Education and psycho-social functIons revealed no consistent pattern, thus allowing no probable interpretation. The fact that the deaf identity of Korean adolescents appeared to be still in a confused state may be the only possible for the result. The implications study results have with respect to the Christian Education are as follows: First of all, effective Christian Education Programs that can elevate Deaf identity that takes the culture and community of Korean Deaf people into account needs to be developed. Secondly, social countermeasures and educational campaigns that would help change the pathological perception of deaf community and culture to one that is sociocultural need to be Implemented. Family, a social support system that would help enliance the level of psycho-social functions of Deaf adolescents and their families should be established. Placement of Christian Educator in Church for the Deaf may be suggested as one of many efforts in doing so.
